30 years ago, when I started working with wood, I was a bit ashamed of what I did.

How Your Sign Is Made

Real wood

When it’s real wood, you can feel it right away. It looks different, feels different — and that’s what makes all the difference.

Shape and precision

This is where the shape begins to form. Every line is defined with precision — and that’s what determines how the final piece will look.

Depth, light and protection

The resin creates depth and gives the light a soft, dimensional feel. At the same time, it forms a protective layer, allowing the piece to be used outdoors.

When design isn’t limited by templates

Hand-applied detailing gives complete freedom in the final look — from subtle stone or metal effects to unique accents that can’t be replicated in mass production. That’s what makes each piece truly one of a kind.

Before You Place an Order

Can I order a custom design or size?

Yes, you can. You can choose a standard design or order a piece with your own custom text.

The base format I work with is 40 mm thickness and 150 mm height. These dimensions are not random — they are designed to properly accommodate LED lighting and internal components.

The length depends on the text and can vary, with a maximum of 900 mm due to technical limitations of the equipment.

Please note that in some countries there are specific standards for address signs, and it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with local requirements.

I follow proven proportions to ensure that each piece looks balanced and functions correctly.

The main material is solid pine wood panel.

I use it because it is stable, holds its shape well, and does not deform over time when properly processed.

This material has already proven itself in practice and works well for this type of product both visually and technically.

Overall durability depends on the conditions of use, but the construction itself is designed for long-term use.

It depends on the type of product.

Ready-made signs (for example, sauna signs) are intentionally left untreated. This is because preferences vary — some people prefer oil, others prefer lacquer (matte or glossy), and some choose paint.

Address signs, on the other hand, are usually delivered with a finished surface. In this case, the coating is selected based on the intended use and conditions.

Options can range from simple protective finishes to more decorative treatments. All details are discussed in advance to ensure the final result meets expectations.

Yes, custom designs and decorative finishes are available.

In addition to standard options, each piece can be adapted based on your idea — including hand-applied detailing, stone or metal effects, and refined surface work.

The letters are filled with epoxy resin, which creates a deeper, more dimensional glow while also adding a protective layer.

For more expressive results, gold leaf (22k) and other premium accents can be applied, giving the piece a more distinctive and high-end look.

More complex decorative work is done by hand by an artist, making each piece more individual and tailored to a specific request.

The lights can be used both indoors and outdoors.

They work well as part of interior design (for example, as a decorative element or a night light), as well as for installation on a facade, terrace, or near an entrance.

For outdoor use, it is important to consider the conditions: the light should be placed under a canopy or in a protected area, without direct exposure to rain.

The signs can be used outdoors throughout the year when installed in a protected location, such as under a roof or canopy, and when used according to the installation recommendations.

The electrical components may have an IP65/IP67 rating, however the lights are not intended for installation inside a steam room.

The light is connected to a 220V power supply through a transformer that converts the voltage to 12/24V for the LED system.

The installation itself is not complicated, however in some countries this type of work is regulated by law.

Depending on the configuration, the light can be connected via a switch or equipped with a photocell — a sensor that automatically turns the light on at dusk and off during daylight.

We recommend that the installation is carried out by a qualified electrician, especially where required by local regulations.

The configuration depends on the selected type of product.

The basic version includes the light itself with installed LED lighting and a power supply.

Protection is provided both by electrical components with an IP65/IP67 rating and by the surface finish, depending on the selected product.

In standard versions, the finish is predefined. In more complex (custom) versions, the finishing details can be selected and discussed individually.

Additional options such as a photocell (automatic on/off) or other solutions can be included upon request.

The final configuration is always determined in advance, depending on the specific use and conditions.

Each piece is made by hand, so production time may vary.

The base construction itself does not take much time, but most of the process is in the finishing and preparation stages.

For example, a single layer of finishing can take 24 to 48 hours to fully cure. Since multiple layers are often required, each step must be completed before the next begins.

As a general reference, a simple address sign with basic finishing (including machining, epoxy filling, and several coating layers) typically takes around 4 days to complete.

It is important to note that this timeframe refers to the production process itself. During periods of high workload, orders are completed in queue.

More complex and custom designs require additional time, as they are created step by step and fully by hand.

For this reason, production time depends not only on the process itself, but also on current workload and the complexity of the order.

You can choose from available options or come with a general idea.
It’s important to have a basic understanding of the result you want.

We help refine details, but we do not develop full designs from scratch.

To place a custom order, please complete the request form and provide the main details of your sign, such as the text, preferred style, approximate size, installation location, and any other relevant information.

If you have additional preferences or examples of designs you like, you may include them in the form. This helps us better understand your request and evaluate whether it can be produced.

After receiving your request, we review the information provided, assess the technical feasibility of the project, and prepare a price estimate.

If additional information is needed before we can prepare a proposal, we will contact you to clarify the details.

If you are not yet certain about some aspects of your sign, we will do our best to suggest a suitable solution based on our existing options and production experience. However, the development of fully custom concepts or complex design projects may require separate review and approval.

After receiving your request, we review the project and assess whether it can be manufactured.

If the project is feasible, you will receive a quotation including the estimated price, production time, and order terms.

Production begins only after the order has been confirmed and the required deposit has been received.

For Custom Address Signs, the standard deposit is 30% of the total order value.

For Custom Design Signs, the standard deposit is 50% of the total order value.

The remaining balance is paid according to the terms specified in the quotation.

Since each sign is made to order, production and payment terms may vary depending on the specific requirements of the project.

Custom orders may be cancelled before production begins.

Production is considered to have started once physical work on the product has begun, including machining, shaping, engraving, finishing, or other manufacturing operations.

Because custom products are made specifically for the customer, deposits paid for orders that have already entered production are generally non-refundable.

If you need to make changes or discuss your order, please contact Wood4Light as soon as possible.
